Fast Food and Alcohol are Evil!

Yesterday was my birthday, so in honor of this day I decided to splurg for dinner. I did so well with my diet, I felt like I could afford a little restaurant food for the evening. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted, so I actually ended up eating what others had orders. This indecision was killing me. I ended up eating a mini cheeseburger (slider) from a set of four that a friend ordered and didn’t eat, and I ate about 15 french fries (yes, I was counting). Those two things were loaded with calories, fat, and sodium. It wasn’t even a regular sized hamburger. It was a slider.

Just those two things together were 608 calories and 22 fat grams. The real killer is the sodium, and I mean that literally. A little cheeseburger and fries pack a whopping 1300mg of sodium. I’m trying to keep my total sodium intake below 1500mg for the whole day. Fast food kills that idea. Now I know where that saying, “That’s a heart attack waiting to happen,” comes from.

I also did not realize that hard alcohol had so many calories. I always thought beer was worse. I guess beer is just high in carbs if you drink regular beer. I had two vodka and water with lemon, and it was almost 400 calories. I know people that can put away a lot more than that in an evening. Wow, think of the calories. I wonder what is worse: 400 calories and no carbs or 200 calories and 200 carbs? Guess I’ll have to go figure that one out now.

Exercise: Hiked Piestewa Peak this morning instead of spinning because there isn’t a spin class on Wednesday mornings yet. I guess they’re working on it, so until they figure that out, I’ll continue to hike the peak. I only had 45 minutes because I got a late start this morning. Must have been all those calories. I hiked up for 25 minutes and down 20. I made it up to part where it wraps around the back side of the mountain about half way up that part. My knees were creaky, but they didn’t hurt. It wasn’t too bad. Burned 339 calories.

Times: 6am - 8am - 11am - 12:30pm - 4pm - 4pm - 7pm
