Sunday Long Ride Burns Calories

I did my 30 mile bike ride on the paved trail by my house. It was the same ride as last time, two weeks ago. This time I rode with some friends, and we rode a lot faster. Last time it took me 2:11, and this time we shaved off 11 minutes and did it in 2 hours. I burned 882 calories. I listed it as medium effort because we talked most of the way. I really tried to push it up the little hills that are created by the tunnels under the roads. Most are just short little hills, but they can slow you down. I tried to maintain my speed without down shifting. That was hard.

I had to take a nap after that, but when I woke up I still had our little weight training session at the spin studio with my Yellow team. I was really surprised by how hard the workout was when we used those big blow up balls, mats, ropes and few dumbbells. I usually think of those things as wimpy workout tools. I’m going to the gym to lift some real weights.  Well, I could hardly do all of the workout, especially push ups. How lame is that? Oh, and I won’t even talk about me trying to do a 6 minute ab workout. Pathetic. Guess we know what my new goal is for next week. Anyway, I listed that as 30 minutes of weight training even though we did more core training. I burned 182 calories for a total of 1075 for the day.

Off to bed for some much needed rest.
